If you are looking for an AMAZING, authentic and gourmet fish sandwich The Fish Monger in Surfside is a fantastic best kept secret of mine (Not for long.). This place used to be on Forestbrook Road and ran by a man named Lee, now Lee reopened in Surfside and brought in Chef Louie. Trained by Le Cordon Bleu Louie takes the freshest seafood and accentuates its natural goodness for the greatest Po'Boy sandwiches I've ever had.
I loved this place when it was just a fish market and now you have a menu of Crab cakes, Dips and remoulade's and of course the Po' Boy's. If you have to ask what a Po' Boy is then you just need to shut up and try it. Ask no questions.
You instantly feel like part of the family when you walk in and you will not be disappointed with any choice of seafood.
Stop in and say hi to Louie and Lee an prepare to be amazed.

PF. Changs at market common has wonderful food and a great location. In the past I have not experienced the best service, actually it was downright awful. For a high-end restaurant with a great reputation for flavor and experience has been lacking in the service department.
In the past the hostess stand has been nothing but a group of bitchy high-school girls handing out buzzers for a thirty- minute wait in between answering texts.
Sure you can wait at the bar in the meantime if you don't mind your bartender not ever looking up from the counter.
I swear you could have flashed the guy and he still would never have ever looked up. If you could make it past the checkpoint at the troll bridge then being ignored by the worlds first employed deaf and blind bartender the wait staff is wonderful.
They are lucky that once you sit down you have the attention and good food you came for. This is based off of at least three recent experiences I have had there at dinner time. One of the times my whole party and I walked out in disgust. My philosophy is if you do not treat guest in a kind and helpful manner as soon as they walk through the door what makes you think they will wait half an hour or more to eat?
Once they see one crack they start noticing every little flaw in the way your busniess operates. People don't go out to eat just for food, they go out to dinner for an experience. Otherwise you lose patrons to taco bell and re runs of Seinfeld at home.
I do have to say I have been back during lunch and the service and food was great. I highly recommend it if you want a good lunch outside while the weather is nice.

Great article from one of my favorite magazines Garden and Gun, http://gardenandgun.com/article/southern-women This proves my point that "southern hospitality" is not just a saying its a way of life. Southern Women are self aware and sassy, we make great mothers, daughters, wives and entrepreneurs.
Absolutely just love this magazine it has amazing photography and great back stories about music, art and food.
Speaking of great food and southern charm if you are looking for some great lunch and a REAL bloody Mary (not that zing zing mix crap) check out Salt Water Creek Cafe in Murrells Inlet. Beautiful interior, Great food and most of all Great service! Thank God.

Introduction
I live in Myrtle Beach, a resort town who's bread and butter is based on sports and tourism like most small towns would rely on factories or coal mines to stay afloat.
In recent years the hospitality industry fell on tough times and many new attractions and restaurants suffered the blow of the economy's bitch-slap. Perfect example Hard Rock Park...Ever heard of it?
Probably not. I live five minutes from the deserted amusement park where they have recently filmed episodes of the new NBC show Revolution, a show about what the world would be like after a mysterious black out occurred and left the world desolate and scary. Lets just say they really didn't have to do much to the area to prepare for the show.
The whole drive over the waterway into Myrtle Beach is a reminder of how this place was booming in its hay day. Empty buildings and rusted out park rides adorn the sides of the highway as a sad welcome sign into our beautiful town.
Basically what im getting at here is that even though the economy sank like the Titanic there were other things that could have been done to save places like Hard Rock park. Much like in the music industry Auto-Tune can only take you so far, you have to be the whole package. Money and a stable economy are the Auto-Tune to the hospitality industry they will keep it going but for how long?. Take a look at the meaning.
hos·pi·tal·i·ty
[hos-pi-tal-i-tee] Show IPA
noun, plural hos·pi·tal·i·ties.
You need the whole package.
1.
the friendly reception and treatment of guests or strangers.
2.
the quality or disposition of receiving and treating guests and strangers in a warm, friendly, generous way.
You need the charm, the friendly face when you walk through the door the food to be hot and the beers to be cold. I feel like most businesses down here almost treat their customers like they are lucky to be served instead of appreciating that families spend their hard earned dollars to take their family out once and a while and they want to have a pleasant experience.
The difference between a failing business and success is a little hospitality. My focus will be to spotlight great local places that really do it right but I will also be reviewing places who don't have a clue.
I feel that we as a society are lacking in certain common graces that have fallen victim to the times. Etiquette and attitude should be timeless. There is always time in the day for a little class and elegance. That's where I come in.
